In May 2022, the Champaign City Council directed staff to pursue a contract for professional services to review the City's Development Review Process. In February 2023, staff performed a Request for Letters of Interest from firms interested in performing the review. Matrix Consulting Group was selected, and they subsequently started a process that included:

Matrix Consulting Group has developed a final report with recommendations for the City to continue to improve and refine their Development Review Process.
The report is available on this webpage and the City is now accepting comments and questions about the report. As the City begins to implement the recommendations of the Development Services Audit Final Report, they are launching a new Digital Permit Submittal Platform called OpenGov. There will be live training for this platform on Tuesday, November 5, at 2:00 pm. The training will virtually over Zoom, and the link is below:

Developer's Forum - October 7, 2024

October 7, 2024 at 4:00 pm, City Staff will host a Developer's Forum at the CityView roomat the Illinois Terminal (45 E University Ave., Champaign). Staff will present the recommendations of the Development Services Audit and discuss the launch of OpenGov, the City's new permitting software.

City Staff will be presenting the recommendations from the Development Services Audit to City Council during a Study Session meeting. That meeting is at 7:00 pm at the Champaign City Building (102 N Neil Street, Champaign).
OpenGov Training
